A Life In Six Words

I recently joined a fantastic writers group on Facebook called Blogplicity.  It is a tight knit community full of very talented bloggers who enjoy interacting with each other.  Lately you have seen some of my offerings for the group, such as the 100 Words on Saturday, and today's post is the response to another writing prompt.

The 6 Word Memoir is based on Hemingway's short story, For Sale: Baby Shoes Never Worn and is an attempt to distill our lives into one compact statement.  Since we are past the middle of the month, many fantastic autobiographies have been posted, often leaving me envious and worrying that mine would be worthy.

But I was assigned the 17th of March, it's a date I could have said no to, could have rescheduled, but these things happen for a reason.  Today would have been my daughter's 29th birthday and I don't have any words to share about her loss.

The following words are all about me, but I won't pretend that losing Brianne didn't bring me to this place.  The following words are not meant to be flippant or blasphemous in any way.

Made in the image of God

Tomorrow's memoir by Vrndavana Vinodini will be found on her blog Just Write.

  1. I admire you bravery. Sometimes there are too many words for what is not explainable. This is exceptional.

I am glad you are enjoying the group. They are welcoming and supportive.

Your choice of words is so reflective of your journey of going through the loss of a child and arriving where you are today. You ARE made in the image of God. ♥

  5. We are all made in his image and that should make us kind, beautiful and whatever that is good and pleasing.

    1. Thanks Jan. I'm going to take your prayers and bundle them up with mine for the poor, sweet pit bull that was pepper sprayed and dumped on our street last night. My heart is with her tonight and I'm looking around for a home, but we had to send her with animal control. Judging by all the warm comments on this post, I think there is plenty of love to spare for this lonely dog.

  10. Hi, Cairn. I came across your memoir through Blogplicity. Thank you for sharing. I don't think your post was arrogant but empowering. It reminds us that things happen for a reason, that we are not mistakes. I wish you continued strength.

    1. Thank you :) Although I often think that we are all nothing but mistakes, mistakes waiting for correction. I think that's the goal, to figure out our personal corrections, to learn from our mistakes.
